At this meetup, we will be discussing how our worldviews are affected by the information we consume, and more importantly, how the information is presented to us. We’ll begin by exploring these two definitions:

* Propaganda — information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.
* Media bias — A political bias in journalistic reporting, in programming selection, or otherwise in mass communications media.

Then we’ll ask such questions as:

— Is there a difference between propaganda and media bias? If so, how can we tell the difference?
— How do they affect us?
— How can we recognize propaganda or media bias when we encounter them?
— How does myside bias (a form of confirmation bias) relate?
— Should we be concerned?

Join us for an engaging discussion on the power of information control.
