Crossing Party Lines: Portland, OR

Website: Organizer's Website

Crossing Party Lines condemns the egregious attack on our democracy that took place at the United States Capitol Building on January 6th.

This act, although the most significant to date, was not the first of its kind. It was the culmination of months of violence committed by extremists of various political stripes. It reminds us of the urgency to come together, despite very real differences, and do the grassroots work needed to heal our country’s deep divisions.

The Crossing Party Lines community is composed of over 3,300 civil and caring members with differing political viewpoints — including a large percentage of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. We represent a microcosm of our country at large. We are proud of members who gather regularly to demonstrate that, out of love for country, Americans who see things differently can listen to one another, share disagreements, and build community together.

This attack on our democracy is not a reflection of who we are as Americans. We respect the safety of others, the institutions of our republic, and the orderly transition of government power. We will always have our disagreements. Yet it is through warm and civil engagement that we grow to strengthen our country, our communities, our families, and ourselves.

Please join us for a special conversation about healing our divisions as Americans during this difficult time. Let’s come together to inspire hope for the future.
